Kairos: the case for the right time, not more time
The Greeks had two words for time. Modern HR policy only budgets for one of them.

Chronos and kairos
Chronos is measured time — days, hours, accruals. Kairos is the opportune moment, the right time for something to happen. PTO policy is almost entirely chronos.
Restoration doesn't respond to allotment. It responds to timing, and timing is the thing most benefit design ignores.
What this changes in practice
It moves the question from 'how many days do we give?' to 'what makes it possible for someone to go now?' — which is a funding, permission, and planning question, not an accrual one.
